Renowned for his porcelain works, Roberto Lugo’s work is a hybrid of European and Asian ceramic traditions with 21st century street style vernacular. The two styles feature a mash-up of hand-painted ceramic motifs rendered in vibrant colors and patterns.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Clay Studio’s community engagement program, Claymobile, which brings a “pop-up” ceramics studio to schools, community centers, and other social service agencies throughout the Philadelphia region.
Stunting I and Stunting II will be available to collectors worldwide via Wexler Gallery.
Lugo creates hand-painted canvases for each numbered edition of each sneaker style — the collector receives a unique remixed design, made to order in their size.
Each pattern combination is only used once.
Each limited edition pair of sneakers comes in a unique custom collector’s box in wood with ceramic details, also hand-made by Lugo.
The collector will also receive a print of the artist's canvas patterns used to produce the sneakers, signed by the artist, and a certificate of authenticity.
